| RIBS FOR DINNER
Written by Linda Nell Cooper
Farce
Set on the East Coast in 1993, Ribs for Dinner is
a fast paced, domestic comedy for an ensemble cast of 9. The
comedy ensues from the relationships among the Everette family
that have gathered together for Thanksgiving dinner. Broken
ribs, broken engagements, and broken promises evoke hilarity
from Marshall (the father), Gert (the mother), and their 3
daughters: Lucy Jo, a literature professor; Marissa, a newly
engaged grad student at UVA; and Noel, an art major at Yale
with too many boyfriends. Ribs for Dinner is a sophisticated,
clean comedy for the entire family. The script requires 5
men and 4 women who must act as an ensemble. The unit set
consists of an open kitchen and family room combination. Ribs
for Dinner premiered at Liberty University Theatre in
Lynchburg, VA, and participated in the Kennedy Center American
College Theatre Festival for 2002.
